Tea Trays, Salvers & Waiters
You may be wondering, what is the difference between a salver and a tray? Their functions are alike as they are both flat, shallow containers that are used for carrying or displaying food and drink (or related accessories). The main difference between salvers and silver trays are that trays have handles and salvers do not. Trays are also often much larger than salvers. This is because in the 19th Century, the weighty tea services were favoured and handles were added to accommodate this trend.
